ABOUT THE ARTIST

Zulfa Ishak is an author and illustrator from Maryland, creating art that explores spirituality, self-discovery, and the quiet transformations of the soul. Her work honors the lost and forgotten parts of ourselves, illuminating the magic found in the journey within.

She has partnered with brands including Capital One Bank, Jiggy Puzzles, Plan International, and the Community Bridges Foundation, and is the author-illustrator of All of You is Magic (Chronicle Books, 2024).

This piece was inspired by nature, its relationship with humans, and all creatures. The birds are a central theme here; they represent the intimacy animals share, reminding us to connect in the same way. The eyes bring in a soft human element, watchful yet gentle, protective, yet respectful of nature and its cycles.
